Twente Region Deal
With the Regio Deal Twente we give a strong impulse to Twente Board's ambition to increase the broad prosperity in Twente, our Gross Twente Happiness. We invest in a future-proof business community, talent at all levels and the accessibility of healthcare.
WHAT IS A REGION DEAL?
Plans and investments for regional growth
Each region is unique and has its own opportunities and challenges. Region Deals use the knowledge and plans of the people in the region itself, with the national government paying up to half of the investments. In Twente, we are currently working on implementing the deal we signed in 2019, aimed at economic development through technology, innovation and talent retention.
At the end of 2022, we submitted another application based on the Agenda for Twente 2023-2027, which focuses on our Gross Twente Happiness. In 2023, we concluded another deal with the state on that basis. This focuses on strengthening the regional business community, utilising all available talent and improving accessibility to healthcare. View the signed covenant (dutch) here.
Our colleague Sjoerd Jansen is involved in the Regio Deal Twente as programme developer and was a guest in the 'Overheid van Nu' podcast ‘Prosperous regions’ (dutch). In it, he explains the importance of good cooperation between the state and the region.
To bring everyone up to speed on all the ins and outs of the Regio Deal Twente, we held a webinar (dutch), where we explain in more detail.
Programme outlines
In cooperation with representatives from Entrepreneurs, Government and Education (3O), we have further elaborated the themes within the Regio Deal. This joint elaboration in programme outlines ensures that the themes have been well lived out across 3O. It has been made clear what is needed and that gives us joint direction. The elaboration of these themes does not constitute a legal framework for assessing projects. The KRACHT criteria and the covenant with the government are used for assessment.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE?
Together with all regional partners, we are making the Region Deal a success. The implementation of the Region Deal requires a programme-based approach and collaboration among parties. This means that projects and initiatives do not stand alone; we aim to link them together as much as possible. Do you have a great idea or proposal that supports the Region Deal’s goals? Please contact one of the programme managers or email project@twenteboard.nl for a preliminary conversation.
The project application process is similar to that of the Twente Agenda. Twente Board Development uses the KRACHT criteria and the agreement to evaluate project applications. Given that the Region Deal involves national government funds, there is an additional step in the process, with direct cooperation from the province.
