Connecting talent and businesses in Twente

Connect Forward

Many international students leave Twente after graduation, and of course, we want to retain this talent in the region. This is why it’s essential to better promote the opportunities and benefits for both companies and students and to work on overcoming existing barriers.

Ukrainian Students Supported in Finding Part-Time Jobs

Students from Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus facing financial difficulties due to the war in Ukraine are receiving assistance in Twente to find part-time jobs. Through the Connect Forward project, companies are matched with students. Serhii Starodubtsev (19), a second-year International Business student at Saxion, started working at Pontus HeatTreatment in early May. “I have various responsibilities,” he explains. “One of my tasks is to improve the inventory management of parts in the stock warehouse.”

Before the war in Ukraine, Serhii could rely on financial support from his family. Now, that has become more challenging. His mother and sister ended up in Germany, and his father had to remain in Ukraine. He’s grateful to be able to support himself and finance his studies this way. “This job also fits well with my studies,” he says.
