Connecting talent and businesses across borders

Cross-border labour

With the growing economy in Twente, a more balanced labour market has emerged on both sides of the border in recent years. Both countries are now facing a shortage of (skilled) personnel. GrensWerk is working to address this through various projects.

Cross-border Labour

The goal of Cross-border Labour is to establish an internship and graduation facility in the EUREGIO region for students in vocational education, with a focus on MBO and HBO levels. Through collaboration with employers and vocational education institutions in both the Netherlands and Germany, the project aims to increase the number of student internships in the neighbouring country.

The project will develop new and creative tools to ease the recruitment process for qualified personnel for employers in both countries while showcasing the quality of the living and working environment in the EUREGIO region. For example, initiatives like collegial lending are being introduced. This aims to create 30 additional FTEs each year.

Through this cross-border cooperation between employers and vocational education providers, the initiative aims to integrate cross-border internships into the student curriculum, ensuring diplomas are recognised on both sides of the border. GrensWerk aspires to become the premier knowledge portal for the cross-border labour market.
