Kampus

Kampus, located in Rijssen and previously known as Vakopleiding West-Twente, is a dynamic training centre in Twente offering various vocational programmes across different sectors. Kampus aims to become a showcase for new innovations, prioritising a vibrant learning environment.

Training Much-Needed Skilled Workers in Rijssen

Brand new, the vocational training centre Kampus in Rijssen will be up and running. Bouwmensen is one of the organisations utilising Kampus. School leavers and those looking to retrain as bricklayers, carpenters, or other construction trades can sign up here. They are employed by Bouwmensen, receive theoretical instruction in the practical training workshop, and work for companies in the area.

“In 99 percent of cases, our employees ‘lose their jobs’ once they graduate,” says Gerrit Koster, managing director of Bouwmensen, with a smile. “But at the same time, in 99 percent of cases, they immediately get a contract with the company they were placed with.”

Bouwmensen trains about 35 people per year and has a strong track record in matching students with companies. “We look at the work the company offers and what the student is looking for, as well as things like commute distance and whether someone prefers to work indoors or outdoors, for example.”

He is looking forward to the day Kampus opens. “Then we’ll have everything under one roof,” he says. And “everything” is quite a lot: ROC van Twente, REMO West-Twente, Bouwmensen, and Zorggilde will be offering vocational training there together.
