BasisLabs 2.0
Following the success of BasisLabs 1.0, Tetem is introducing a revamped program: BasisLabs 2.0. Project leader Wilja Jurg explains the ambitions and approach.
Everything you need to know about BasisLabs 2.0
With BasisLabs 1.0, a lab has been set up in every municipality in Twente. With version 2.0, the project focuses on further deepening and broadening its impact. “Our goal is to use the local labs to contribute more strongly to technological awareness and cooperation between stakeholders, entrepreneurs, and residents,” says Wilja Jurg. “We want to make technology accessible to everyone, young and old, and make it a part of everyday life.”
Wide reach, solid results
The target group of BasisLabs 2.0 is diverse. In addition to children and students, the project focuses on neighborhood residents, seniors, and businesses. By bringing technology outside the traditional education system, a wider audience is reached. "In a BasisLab, you learn to understand and use technology. This makes it easier for people to keep up with future technological developments. Our ambition is for everyone in Twente to know where they can go to get started with technology," says Jurg.
Thanks to a mobile version of the lab, BasisLabs 2.0 can also serve small communities. Technology coaches, supported by volunteers in libraries, offer accessible guidance. This contributes to personal development and makes technology accessible to everyone between the ages of 6 and 88.
Stronger together with the Twente Board
BasisLabs 2.0 builds on the foundation laid by the first version, which led to the inclusion of labs in library policy. The support of the Twente Board enables further growth and innovation. This collaboration allows all fourteen municipalities in Twente to be served, which contributes to increasing impact and inclusivity. “Our goals are clear: better preparation for the technological transition and more students entering technology,” says Jurg. “By giving people the space to practice and develop themselves, we offer them the tools to actively shape their future.”
Contribution to Gross Twente Happiness
The project contributes to multiple dimensions of Gross Twente Happiness, including personal development, social engagement, and subjective well-being. “With BasisLabs 2.0, we are not only making technology accessible, but also relevant to everyone in Twente. In this way, we are strengthening our region and preparing for the future,” concludes Jurg.
