What is the Young Twente Board?
Five years ago, ten young people from Twente formed the first cohort of the Young Twente Board to contribute ideas for the future of the Twente region and advocate for the interests of Twente’s youth. We have a direct link with the Twente Board and its operational body, Twente Board Development, allowing us to provide both requested and unsolicited advice. Our independence enables us to speak up freely, and we are certainly not afraid to do so!
What have you achieved over the past five years?
Even though we do this on a volunteer basis alongside our "real" jobs, we accomplish a lot! For example, we launched a panel to engage young people in important regional issues, provided both requested and unsolicited advice, wrote columns, attended numerous (digital) meetings, connected Twente youth networks, and helped attract and retain talent in Twente... and much more! Moreover, we introduced our own socio-economic strategy for the region: "Gross Regional Happiness." Thanks to our efforts, broad prosperity is now a priority in Twente!
Why are you looking for new members?
Young Twente Board consists of ten members. Each new member commits to a three-year term, after which it’s time to pass the baton. This regular renewal ensures a fresh perspective and continuous learning from one another.
What are you looking for in new members?
We have no specific requirements regarding education or experience. What matters is that you bring good ideas and care deeply about Twente, combined with courage, commitment (an average of two evenings per month), flexibility, and a willingness to work collaboratively.
Why should I apply?
If you have great ideas for this region, want to make an impact, and are between 21 and 35 years old (we are a "young" board, after all), why not? This role offers a chance for personal and professional growth, expands your network, allows you to work with an enthusiastic group of people, and enables you to make a meaningful difference in and for Twente!
