Ilse Nijmeijer

My name is Ilse Nijmeijer (31). I was born and raised in Twente and currently live in Vasse. Since September 2026, I have been a member of Young Twente Board.

In my professional life, I work as a policy advisor for the (leisure) economy for the municipalities of Tubbergen and Dinkelland (Noaberkracht). My work focuses on finding the right balance between living, working and leisure in Twente, with a particular emphasis on developing an economically vibrant and future-proof rural area.

I strongly believe in the strength of our region. Twente is shaped by people who take initiative and want to build something together. From urban areas to the countryside, and across generations. It is precisely this sense of connection that makes our region strong. Here, quality is not a marketing term, it is something we consider a given. From innovative technology and construction to agricultural entrepreneurship and hospitality. We roll up our sleeves, look out for one another and work together to make our region a better place. In Twente, that is simply how we do things. And I am proud to play my part.

My key priorities are:
•    Creating a healthy balance between living, working and leisure throughout Twente;
•    Creating opportunities and prospects for young entrepreneurs in small communities and rural areas;
•    Improving mobility and accessibility in rural areas for people of all ages;
•    Preserving our regional identity, including our language and traditions, for the next generation.

An attractive region is not only a place people enjoy visiting, but a place where people want to stay.

Are you working on these topics too? I would be happy to connect.
