Thijmen Pluimers
My name is Thijmen Pluimers (31). I’m originally from Wierden, spent three years living in The Hague, and now happily live in Borne again, which probably tells you I feel very much at home in Twente.
I work as a Technical Developer at Plegt-Vos, where I focus on automating engineering processes and optimising the products that run through our factories. In short: I look for smarter ways to build, so we can create more volume with a higher quality.
To me, Twente is all about “noaberschap”: looking out for each other, rolling up our sleeves and moving full speed ahead, without losing sight of the people around us. That mix of down-to-earth mentality, mutual care and ambition is exactly why I want to help shape the region’s future.
Since October 2025, I’ve been a member of the Young Twente Board. Within YTB, I’m especially interested in themes like sustainability, talent, innovation and the tight housing market. With my background in construction and factory automation, I hope to add practical context to the conversation and help YTB further grow its network with companies in the region.
At home, I’m a husband and dad to two kids, and whenever I can, you’ll find me on skis or on the tennis court.
